Mr. Khush Dil Khan, Vice-Chairman and Mr. Muhammad Faheem Wali, Chairman, Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council, have strongly condemned the imposition of restrictions and attempts to curtail freedom of expression and digital rights of citizens by taking off air, the famous talk show of senior and renowned journalist, Hamid Mir.
They expressed their deep concerns and rejected the Government’s un-democratic move and actions to ban a Senior Journalist by taking him off air to conduct his talk show, the same being based on ulterior motives, to suppress the free and independent journalist voice, which is violation of constitutional rights as enshrined in the Constitution i.e. rights to freedom of speech and expression under Article 19.
They demanded of the government to take immediate steps to withdraw such ban on Mr. Hamid Mir. They further expressed and condemned such like blatant attempts to intimidate and threaten those who work towards upholding the rule of law. They said, the legal fraternity will always stand with the independent media against all sorts of visible, candid and hidden aggression and will never tolerate any intimidation to curb their independent voice.
