PRESS RELEASE

Mr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman Chaudhry, Vice-Chairman and Pir Muhammad Masood Chishti, Chairman, Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council, have strongly denounced and condemned the yesterday’s decision of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), an Indian Court awarding life imprisonment in “terror” funding case through mock and unfair trial to Mr. Yasin Malik, Hurriyat Leader, bypassing all the local, international and human rights laws.

They expressed their deep concerns on the shameful act of India regarding “malafide” conviction and sentencing on “a grossly suspicious and contrived case” to Mr. Malik, Chief of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). He is being punished for his commitment and loyalty with Kashmir cause. They said that India can never silence Kashmiris’ voice for freedom and self-determination through such like tactics and all the Pakistani’s stands with Kashmiri brothers and sisters & will continue to provide all possible support in their just struggle.

They urged upon the international community and human rights watchdogs to intervene into the matter and put pressure on Indian Government to release Mr. Malik, since imprisonment cannot change the reality.
