Mr. Haroon-ur-Rashid, Vice-Chairman and Mr. Hassan Raza Pasha, Chairman, Executive Committee and Members of the Pakistan Bar Council have reiterated their unwavering support and stand in solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people and their ongoing struggle for their right of self-determination and freedom. They supported the Black Day to be observed tomorrow in commemoration of the events of 27th October, 1947, when India forcibly occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the will of its people, marking a chapter of occupation, subjugation and oppression for the innocent people.

They expressed that the occupation of Jammu & Kashmir remains one of the longest-standing and unresolved issue in the world, characterized by human rights abuses, violence, and is a consistent denial of the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people.

They further expressed their deep concerns and condemned the unilateral decision taken by the Indian government on August 5, 2019 to abrogate Article 370 of the Indian Constitution in the region of Jammu and Kashmir, which has had far-reaching implications, not only for the people of the region but also for the broader principles of democracy, self-determination, and international law.

They fully supported and endorsed the call of The All Parties Hurriyat Conference to observe Black Day on October 27, 2023 against Indian brutalities and illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir since 1947 and also demanded from the International community to play role to resolve the longstanding issue of Kashmir dispute, in accordance with the will of the people of Kashmir and Resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
