                              PRESS RELEASE

Mr. Shabbir Shar, Chairman, Executive Committee, Mr. Muhammad Ahsan
Bhoon, former Vice Chairman & Mr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman Chaudhry, former
Chairman, Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council, appreciating
the decision of Federal Government to merge FATA in the Province of
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, by way of amendment in the Constitution, accepting
the long standing demand of the people of FATA, have urged upon the
Government to ensure giving right of franchise to them in the ensuing
general elections scheduled for 25th July, 2018 enabling them also to
choose and elect their representatives to the National and Provincial
Assemblies. Any delay of election in FATA till after assuming the charge
of new Government in KP, after election, may frustrate and impair the
process of free and fair elections thus depriving the people of FATA to
elect representatives of their own choice in a transparent manner.

They have, therefore demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan and
Caretaker Federal Government to ensure and make all possible steps for
holding fair and free election in FATA on 25th July, 2018, as well, in
the larger national interest.

                                                SECRETARY
                                           PAKISTAN BAR COUNCIL
