PRESS RELEASE

        The first meeting of the Special Committee constituted by the Hon’ble
Supreme Court of Pakistan on structural reforms in the legal education,
was held today in office of the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court
Building, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Hamid Khan, Sr. ASC and
former President, Supreme Court Bar Association/Vice-Chairman, Pakistan
Bar Council.

3.        The Committee while expressing its gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief
Justice of Pakistan for his keen interest in improvement of the
deteriorating standard and quality of the legal education and for bringing
about structural reforms in that regard, formulated and considered
following points, pursuant to directions of the Supreme Court:-

(1)        Entry to Law Colleges.
(2)        Uniform syllabus of LL.B. courses-duration.
(3)        Faculty, permanent/visiting.
(4)        Assessment/evaluation of examinations.
(5)        Affiliation of Private Law Colleges.
(6)        Campuses of Private Universities.
(7)        Entry to the Bar.

4.        The Special Committee discussed the aforementioned points in detail and
after lengthy deliberations constituted its Sub-Committees for further
consideration of above issues and giving their recommendations, which the
Committee will consider in its next meeting to be held on 06-02-2018.
