PRESS   RELEASE

Mr. Abid Saqi, Vice-Chairman, Pakistan Bar Council and Syed Qalb-i-Hassan, President, Supreme Court Bar Association have appreciated the initiative and decision of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan and Hon’ble Chief Justices of all the High Courts, to reduce fixation of cases only to the extent of those of urgent nature, in view of worsening situation arising out of increasing spread of Corona Virus, (COVID-19), and have emphasized the desirability, in the ongoing situation, that no case will be dismissed for non-prosecutions.

They also request the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan   and  Hon’ble Chief Justices of all the High Courts,, for waiving the requirement of limitation, under Limitation Act, for filing of cases in different Courts throughout Pakistan and issuance of necessary directions to all the Courts at different tiers purely on sympathetic consideration in view of present peculiar circumstances.

Needless to add that in the lockdown like situation throughout the Country, it is extremely difficult for litigants to reach the Lawyers and the Courts to seek advice and to file their cases within the time as prescribed under the law, which necessitate all the more, the waiver of requirement of limitation in filing of cases in Courts.
