PRESS RELEASE

CONDEMNATION

Mr. Abid Saqi, Vice-Chairman, Pakistan Bar Council, has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of Mr. Muhammad Hayat Mirza, a student of Karachi University, who was shot eight times, by a soldier of the Frontier Corps, in Absar area of Turbat-Balochistan. It is hight of the lawlessness that the murderer soldier of a state Institution, who committed the heinous crime in presence of several witnesses including family members of the victim, remained at large for couple of days before his belated arrest.

Unfortunately, this is not the first incident of its kind as in past as well, there were number of incidents of missing persons and target killings of innocent citizens of Baluchistan which reminds the mind-set and acts of the Rulers of colonial era. It is, therefore, imperative that State Institutions should come forward to check and control such accesses and abuse of authority by their officials, for restoring confidence and faith of the citizens of Baluchistan in State Institutions which are duty bound under the Constitution and law, to provide safety and security to the people.

The Vice-Chairman, Pakistan Bar Council, has demanded of the Government for speedy trial of the culprit soldier of Frontier Corps by a competent Court of law and awarding him exemplary punishment besides affording substantial monetary compensation to family of the deceased.
